The department manager at Blindheim Care Center, Marie Giske Dalen, reports that the sensor mats have made the workday easier. “The experiences are very good, and I have no problem recommending this for use elsewhere. We have gained better oversight, increased security, and less stress in our workday,” says Giske Dalen.
The sensors are placed under the mattress and detect whether the resident is in bed, providing staff with valuable insights without disturbing the resident. Experience shows that the number of falls has decreased, and the workday has become more predictable. The system automatically alerts in case of abnormal activity, making it easier to provide help where needed.
For people with dementia, restlessness and nighttime wandering can be a challenge. With Varda Care’s solution, staff can monitor residents’ movements and provide assistance when necessary. “This allows us to use our time more wisely and provide better care,” explains Dalen.

Stian Nesset Busæt, an advisor for welfare technology in Ålesund municipality, emphasizes that privacy and security are important in care services. When technology improves services and makes everyday life easier, it is positive for everyone. “The staff show great willingness to try out and adopt new systems. It seems they find the workday more exciting. The system is clear, intuitive, and easy to use, and the staff has full control through the app on their mobile phones,” says Busæt.
